An East Millinocket Ambulance swerved to avoid an animal in the road and crashed into a utility pole Monday, causing live wires to fall on the rig.

The three people in the ambulance were trapped inside until the utility company could arrive on scene, WAGM-TV reports.

The ambulance’s operator, the 12-year-old patient and another passenger were not hurt in the crash.

The ambulance was towed from the scene and the roadway was closed for about 30 minutes.

Assisting at the scene were Bridgewater and Monticello fire departments, Central Aroostook Ambulance Service and Versant Power.
