Tift County Commission is looking into purchasing new equipment for its fire and rescue department.

Allen Owens, emergency medical services chief, came before the board Feb. 7 requesting the purchase of two Stryker power loads to be installed in the department’s recently purchased ambulances.

Owens said the devices would facilitate the loading and unloading of patients into and out of the ambulance and would total $48,221.

Were the purchase to be approved, the power loads would be installed by the end of March.

County Commission agreed to vote on the item at the next meeting.
