Stolen Ambulance Crashes in Illinois; Suspect Charged

STERLING, Ill. – Police say a man stole an ambulance from CGH Medical Center on Saturday and crashed it.

KWQC-TV reports a patient ran away from the emergency department, stole the ambulance and drove off. He later lost control and hit another vehicle, causing the ambulance to roll on its side.

Both drivers were taken to the medical center for evaluation. Both did not to have any serious injuries. Police identified the driver of the ambulance as 26-year-old Pedro T. Galindo III.

Galindo III is charged with felony theft of an ambulance, aggravated battery, obstructing identification and disobeying a stop sign.
