A gunman who carjacked a D.C. Fire & EMS Ambulance Saturday morning as EMS workers treated a patient in the vehicle has been arrested, according to a report by WUSA9.
The suspect has been identified as 34-year-old Isaac Edwards.
The incident happened at 9 a.m. near Martin Luther King Jr. and Chicago Street, Southeast. The ambulance had responded to a report of an injured person at that location. As EMS personnel treated the patient in the back of the ambulance, the armed carjacker showed them his gun and threatened them, the report says.
The D.C. Fire & EMS personnel and the others exited the ambulance without further harm, and Edwaerds drove away in the emergency apparatus.
The ambulance was later recovered.
