MBrace, Featured in Horton Occupant Protection System™ (HOPS), Awarded 2023 EMS World Innovation Award

GROVE CITY, Ohio – Dec. 15, 2023 – Horton Emergency Vehicles, a subsidiary of REV Group Inc., and a leader in ambulance safety, is proud to announce that MBrace, featured exclusively in the Horton Occupant Protection System(HOPS), is a recipient of the EMS World’s 2023 Innovation Awards.  HOPS is a key element of Horton’s safe design and features four-point harnesses and airbags to protect emergency care providers.

Engineered by IMMI, the global leader in advanced safety systems, and launched in March 2023, MBrace is a patent-pending advanced airbag safety system designed specifically to protect emergency care providers against head and neck injuries while they are inside the patient compartment during frontal impacts, in addition to ambulance rollovers.  “After 5 years in development, MBrace is truly a game-changer in advanced safety,” said Josh Motsinger, director of sales for Emergency Vehicle/Body at IMMI.  “We are thankful to partner with Horton Emergency Vehicles to provide this innovation that better protects our first responders when they are involved in frontal collisions.”

MBrace integrates an airbag into an innovative multi-point restraint that protects emergency care providers while allowing them mobility and freedom to work.  Horton is the first and only brand in the ambulance industry to offer MBrace.  All Horton vehicle orders from April 1, 2023, include the MBrace system as standard equipment.

“At Horton, safety is our highest priority and it’s due to partnerships with global safety leaders like IMMI, that help us to achieve excellence in safety innovation,” said Dave Marshall, director of sales, Horton Emergency Vehicles. “We are delighted IMMI’s airbag safety system, MBrace, has been recognized by EMS World and congratulate the IMMI team on this well-deserved award.”

The annual EMS World Innovation Awards recognize the industry’s most pioneering products of the year displayed at EMS World Expo, held September 20-22 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Horton displayed its New Orleans Emergency Medical Services (EMS) ambulance, the first ambulance with the new MBrace safety system.
