ISTANBUL – A Turkish ambulance carrying a person suspected of having coronavirus was damaged by a group of people, according to a report.

A person stopped the ambulance on March 29 and questioned the crew on the patient’s identity and if the person inside had the virus, the Hurriyet Daily News reported.

One suspect threw punches when the ambulance crew refused to answer. The suspect then followed the ambulance with his vehicle and made the ambulance stop and smashed the windows with a cobblestone.

Three people were detained following the alleged assault. Two people were later charged with damaging public property.

One suspect later told police the fight was over a quarrel with the ambulance driver, not over coronavirus, according to the report.
